Let's Build A Playground!!

Mission: Through the efforts of expertly supervised community volunteers, we want to construct a safe playground at Terreton Elementary that is accessible to each child for development of motor, social, and cognitive skills through play and exploration on age-appropriate equipment.

Thank you, Steele-Reese Foundation!!

We want to recognize the Steele-Reese Foundation for awarding our playground project a grant for $10,000!! Thank you to the Foundation representatives for traveling out to see our new playground and advocate for us to get this grant money! We appreciate your generosity and enthusiasm for our success!

OBJECTIVES:

*Increase the opportunity for physical activity of our children by providing adequate play equipment to accommodate the needs of our student population.

*Meet current standards for school playground equipment safety, disability accessibility, and age-appropriateness. None of these are being met with the existing hazardous, broken and inadequate equipment.

*Encourage student confidence in project management by leading them through the planning, fund-raising, and construction phases of building their playground.

*Create greater bonds between families, community members, and the school-community relationship by providing the opportunity for volunteerism at all levels of this project.
